Messiah: A Community Sing

MESSIAH: A Community Sing Once again, HG provides a glorious afternoon of music as soloists and audience members join to sing the Christmas portion of G.F. Handel's triumphant oratorio. Dr. Peggy Dettwiler conducts the event this year with soloists from the Mansfield University music department. Three of this year's soloists are recent graduates, and one is currently a junior. The string quartet is from State College, and local musician Marian Miller is returning to the keyboard. Audience members are invited to sing the choruses. Scores are available upon entrance, or you may bring your own. Of course, you may also sit back and listen to your friends and neighbors present this incredible work. The event began and continues as a fundraiser for the HG Children's Choral Program. Fittingly, when the MESSIAH was first presented in London 1743 it too was as a fundraiser for the newly opened Foundling Hospital, a home for unwanted children.) The HG Treble Choir will present two selections before we commence MESSIAH. Please consider contributing to these young musicians. The event is once again offered due to the generous sponsorship by Marsha and Bob Chesko.
