Ever wonder how climate change will affect area vineyards? Suzanne Hunt has. A leader in sustainability efforts, not only is she an international consultant for clean technologies and sustainable farming, she’s also co-owner of Hunt Country Vineyards on Keuka Lake. “We believe that the wine trade can be a beacon of hope and action in the global response to the climate crisis— and serve as a model for other sectors,” she says. (HGWP loves women who take charge and do good stuff for the world.)
This fundraiser is in celebration of Earth Day and the HGWP production, The Moons of Jupiter, which are the following weekend. In fact, the talk and tasting will take place in the theatre, utilizing the set which is an urban dive bar in the water-starved future. Lilace Guignard, the show’s director, will interview Suzanne about Hunt Country’s new line, Uncharted Terroir, which crafts delicious wines from hybrid grape varieties that are resilient in the face of an uncertain future. Suzanne will take questions from you too—anything about winemaking, sustainability, climate change, and women in science. And Lilace promises some characters from The Moons of Jupiter will drop in to say hi. For more information about The Moons of Jupiter go to hamiltongibson.org. To buy tickets for both events go to hgp.booktix.org.
